2011 Strategic Planning

When the end of one year comes, it is time once again to plan for the year ahead. As you know, Banner Health overall, along with individual hospitals, sets goals for various strategic initiatives ranging from employee engagement and patient experience to financial performance and clinical outcomes.

We took a little bit of a different approach when planning for 2011 here at Banner Gateway. There was a joint meeting held with the Medical Executive Committee and all the directors from the hospital and together we came up with goals for the next year. The outcomes from this meeting were extremely positive as was the reaction to this type of planning. This approach will encourage all of us to work collaboratively with the leadership and staff in the hospital to accomplish the same goals. There are three facility goals for which physicians are helping lead the effort. Those initiatives include scores from our patient experience surveys related to communication with nurses, communication with physicians, and communication about medications.
 
While some of these initiatives will be challenging, I am confident that we can all work together to make it happen. We will need to continue to work collaboratively to ensure that we are consistently providing our patients with the safest and best care possible.
