Banner Research Institute announces leadership changes
Eric M. Reiman, MD, has been named CEO of Banner Research Institute, replacing Bill Camp, who announced his retirement from Banner effective in May.
Banner Research Institute (BRI) provides administrative oversight of all of Banner’s research entities and activities, including Banner Sun Health Research Institute, Banner Alzheimer’s Institute and ongoing clinical research studies and trials at Banner facilities.
In addition to his new role as CEO of BRI, Reiman will continue as chief scientific officer of Banner Research Institute and as executive director of Banner Alzheimer’s Institute. As part of the organizational changes, Banner is creating a new chief operations officer position at BRI that will report to the CEO. A search, including internal and external candidates, is underway to fill the new position.
Banner Research Institute is the umbrella organization for research at Banner Health, one of the nation’s largest nonprofit healthcare systems. Its research-related Centers of Excellence include Banner Alzheimer’s Institute, Banner Sun Health Research Institute, and the developing Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center. Its targeted areas of research emphasis are in the clinical neurosciences, oncology, pediatrics, brain imaging, simulation training, and graduate medical education.
Camp has done an outstanding job over the past few years of integrating all of Banner’s research functions, including compliance, training and institutional review, under one umbrella organization. We thank Camp for his outstanding leadership and congratulate Reiman on his new appointment. Banner is fortunate to have such a nationally recognized and passionate leader of his caliber to assume this new role.
