Campaign underway to keep AHCCCS members covered
The Arizona Health Care Cost Containment System (AHCCCS) has been undergoing reforms that may require a higher level of personal responsibility for patients to maintain ongoing health care coverage.
As a result, it is becoming increasingly important for AHCCCS patients to fulfill all of the requirements to renew their AHCCCS enrollment to maintain continuity of care.
A grassroots campaign called “Don’t get dropped AZ” is underway to assist providers and community groups in helping low-income families and individuals maintain access to health care.
"Don’t get dropped AZ" encourages AHCCCS members to pay close attention to any letters they receive and to watch for renewal notices. A significant number of Medicaid recipients fall off the enrollment list because they forget or don’t get around to renewing on time, thus causing a disruption in care.
If you treat AHCCCS patients, we encourage you to learn more about ways you can help by visiting http://www.dontgetdroppedaz.org/.
The website has a variety of resources available including:
- tips and tools that will allow people to self-manage their own eligibility
- flyers and messages posted in English and Spanish to provide to patients or to post in patient areas at health care facilities
- a list of organizations in each county that can help people with applications; first time or renewals.
