Meet our Surgeons

Banner Gateway Medical Center is proud to introduce our bariatric surgeons, all of whom are trained in the latest techniques for weight-loss surgery.

	David Podkameni, MD Dr. Podkameni serves as the medical director of the Banner Gateway Bariatric Center. He completed his laparoscopy/ minimally invasive training at the Cleveland Clinic and is board-certified in general and pediatric surgery. He has written several medical and surgical textbooks and papers.
	Rob Schuster, MD Dr. Schuster received his medical degree from the University of Colorado, and completed residency training in general surgery at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital and a fellowship as a clinical instructor in minimally invasive surgery at Stanford Hospital & Clinics.
	Al Chen, MD Dr. Chen received his medical degree from the University of  Pennsylvania, completed residency training at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, served as a trauma surgeon at Luke Air Force Base, and completed a fellowship in bariatrics/advanced laparoscopy at Carolinas Medical Center.
