Jeremiah Wayne Robinson was an East Valley resident and solider who loved his family and friends. Born to Burt and Amy Robinson, he was the oldest of three boys. A kind and compassionate person, he loved spending time with children. Whether his siblings, cousins, friends, neighbors or even complete strangers, Jeremiah was a magnet for children.
After graduating from Skyline High School in Mesa, Ariz. in 2004, Jeremiah joined the Army National Guard where he served in the 160th MP Company – the first step toward his goal of becoming a solider and a police officer.
While serving in Iraq, Jeremiah often sent home pictures of himself surrounded by Iraqi children. As a result, he frequently requested that family and friends send candy and treats to pass out to local children.
In October 2005, just 16 days before what would have been his 21st birthday, Jeremiah was killed in Iraq.
In celebration of his life, family and friends set out to leave a legacy in his honor. Knowing how much joy he got from helping others and putting smiles on the faces of children everywhere, they came up with the idea for Jeremiah’s Toy Corral.
Now, the hospital’s pediatric patients get a little cheering up thanks to one solider whose compassion lives on.
Pediatric patients at Banner Gateway get to make a special visit to Jeremiah’s Toy Corral where they can pick out a special toy to help make their hospital stay a little better. From stuffed animals and coloring books to Barbie dolls and DVDs, there’s something for everyone.
Jeremiah’s legacy of giving lives on at Banner Gateway Medical Center.
