Welcome to Nursing at Banner Good Samaritan

Welcome to the Division of Nursing at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, a Magnet™ hospital!

I believe you will find rewarding and meaningful information about the nursing experience at Banner Good Samaritan. Our medical center has been recognized by the American Nursing Association as a Magnet™ facility, the gold standard in nursing excellence.

The Phoenix Business Journal has named Banner Health one of the Valley’s “Best Places to Work”  for three consecutive years. Recently, Banner was named among the Top 5 health systems in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics. And, in 2009, Banner was the recipient of the "Gallup Great Workplace Award" from Gallup Consulting.

Banner Good Samaritan receives its share of awards, as well. U.S.News & World Report has named Banner Good Samaritan one of “America’s Best Hospitals” for eleven years and we have been chosen one of the “Top 100 Hospitals to Work For” by Nursing Professionals magazine.

Professional nursing at Banner Good Samaritan is reinforced by the continued promotion of professionalism and autonomy within our work setting. We support the expansion of our core of certified nurses, focus on standardization of evidence-based practice, generate the highest volume of original nursing research investigations in our history, offer unique educational academies, provide numerous mentorship opportunities and novel simulation learning, and we have reconfigured shared leadership, all with the intent to strengthen the practice of our exemplary nurses at the bedside. With these priorities has come validation from our patients of the exceptional care rendered at our facility.  We have much to be proud about.

I invite you to explore our Nursing Division in detail on this website. On the following pages you will learn about the environment of care at Banner Good Samaritan, the programs that create and encourage nursing excellence, and you will read some of the personal experiences of our nursing staff, both new and veteran.

Sincerely,

Ursula Sobas-Gonzalez, RN, BSN, MS-L
