Welcome to Nursing at Banner Good Samaritan
Welcome to the Division of Nursing at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, a Magnet™ hospital! Banner Good Samaritan nurses are widely recognized for excellence and leadership in providing quality patient care by focusing on creating effective structures and processes leading to improved outcomes.
Consistent with Banner Good Samaritan's history of collaboration and innovation, our nurses are committed to advancing the nursing profession by conducting research, implementing evidence-based practice projects, presenting at conferences both regionally and nationally, and actively participating in professional organizations.
A twice-designated Magnet hospital, we are continually on the Magnet journey using the criteria established by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. This designation, first received by Banner Good Samaritan in 2006, is given to less than 8 percent of hospitals in the United States. It represents the gold standard in nursing excellence; we believe it is external validation of the collaboration, teamwork, and outcomes that are the cornerstones of the environment you will find here at Banner Good Samaritan. Having this designation signifies the strong organizational support for the practice of nursing.
The Phoenix Business Journal has named Banner Health one of the Valley’s “Best Places to Work” for three consecutive years. Banner was also named among the Top 5 health systems in the U.S. by Truven Health Analytics. And, in 2009, Banner was the recipient of the "Gallup Great Workplace Award" from Gallup Consulting.
Here at Banner Good Samaritan, we receive our share of awards, too. In addition to Magnet recognition, 2013 marks the 13th year the hospital has been nationally ranked by U.S. News and World Report. Many of our specialty programs have also received regional and national recognition and accreditation.
Banner Good Samaritan nurses work in a robust clinical environment that is emblematic of a teaching hospital. Our workplace is characterized by nurses implementing new technology, interventions and care delivery models all with the goal of improving patient outcomes.
Nurses here are supported in their own development through an exceptional professional practice setting, which includes access to unlimited continuing education credits through CE Direct, financial and organizational support for education and certification and a shared leadership culture.
Nurses are encouraged to gain experience and expertise through unique educational opportunities which include Academies, an on-site simulation lab, and nursing grand rounds, to mention a few.
Here on this website you will find information about many of the aspects of the professional nursing practice environment I have described. Please take a few minutes and explore what Banner Good Samaritan Nursing has to offer.
Our nurses are second to none; whether novice or expert, we are committed to providing an environment that supports every nurse’s practice and growth. Magnet nursing at Banner Good Samaritan: It’s not just a designation, it’s part of every nurse’s journey.
