Notes from the CEO: Introduction
What a first week! Thank you to everyone who has extended a warm welcome to me, inviting me into the Banner Good Sam family! That’s exactly what it feels like here … a wonderful, caring family.
Through this blog, I look forward to capturing the unique stories of this wonderful culture that each of you has played a role in contributing to. Banner Good Samaritan is a “Place of Possibilities.” It is in this hospital that young physicians come from all over the country for the possibility to grow and develop into outstanding clinicians who deliver high value and highly coordinated care to complex patients every day.
With its multiple residency programs, Banner Good Sam graduates more than 250 young physicians every year in almost every specialty. It is in this hospital that patients come from not only Arizona, but from the entire Southwest and even further away, to experience the unique highly differentiated clinical care from our teams of nationally known clinical experts.
I quickly learned what makes Banner Good Sam a Place of Possibilities for so many patients. It starts with the fact that our hospital is fortunate to attract the best physicians in the country to join our team of incredible nurses, respiratory therapists, social workers, therapists, pharmacists and many others. Almost all of them are not only dedicated to working in coordinated multidisciplinary teams to deliver the right care to the right patient at the right time, but they also take the time to serve as faculty to one of our multiple residency programs, training a new generation of outstanding clinicians.
It is this unique intersection of clinical care, teaching and scholarly activity that creates a culture of excellence and continual improvement at Banner Good Sam that patients from all over the country want to come and experience.
I look forward to learning more about this amazing medical center, every day, one conversation at a time.
As our health care system faces even more complex challenges, financial pressures and increasing competition, Banner Good Sam is in a unique position to tell a compelling story of why patients should travel far and wide to 12th Street and McDowell Road. I look forward to meeting each of you and simply asking this question: How are you contributing today to this Place of Possibility?
