Sept. 4: Better Together
We are so excited to officially kick off another Better Together Campaign. Personally, this is a demonstration of how committed we are as ONE Banner Good Sam Family to support each other, our own hospital and our community. As we talk about the future of Banner Good Sam and reaching our destiny as nationally recognized medical center known for its expertise on improvements and integrating excellent clinical care with teaching and scholarly activity as part of an academic medical center, we must always be ONE team with ONE vision.
What better way to demonstrate that by leading the system in giving in this year’s Better Together Campaign? This year we want to beat our target of 31 percent of our employees donating. It takes as little as $1 per person to make a difference. Remember, your contributions go back to your hospital and your community. Thank you so much for your support of this amazing medical center, Banner Good Samaritan …

Better Together, a partnership between Banner Health Foundation (BHF), Sun Health Foundation (SHF) and United way, is Banner Health’s annual employee giving campaign for the Arizona Regions. Grounded in the belief that we can accomplish more together than we can alone, Better Together promotes a spirit of philanthropy among employees and gives them the option to make charitable contributions to BHF, SHF and/or United Way.
2013 is the fifth anniversary of the campaign with a Banner Health System fundraising goal of $1,250,000 and participation goal of 31 percent.
Dates: The campaign kicks off Sept. 5 and ends Sept. 30.
Activities: Please look for emails detailing activities; sales in cafeteria every Tuesday and Thursday, salsa contest, cupcake wars, virtual jail-a-thon, carnival with dunk tank and so much more.
Banner Good Samaritan Facility Goal: $120,000 and 31 percent participation rate.
Better Together is important because your contribution and support for vital programs and services at your own Banner facility or within your community supports our mission of making a difference in people's lives. Better Together has several programs that employees can choose to contribute to that directly benefit Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
One hundred percent of all employee contributions made to programs supported by Banner Health Foundation and Sun Health Foundation directly benefit those services. Better Together offers a wide range of giving options including Banner Health's numerous funds as well as Mesa United Way, United Way of Pinal County and Valley of the Sun United Way.
We, the members of the planning team, are so passionate about the Better Together Campaign. We see the campaign benefit so many of Banner’s programs directly. Most of the programs have a direct impact on patient care or the employees of Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center.
The Banner Good Samaritan General Fund has helped fund many projects here at BGSMC. Last year, funding was used for a much needed update in Radiation Oncology as well as replacing some of the older and torn furniture that was used in general and patient care areas.
The Laura Dreier Breast Center Reaching Out/Komen Program is one of the programs that is generously supported by the Better Together Campaign. Through the employee giving we are able to provide treatment for breast cancer in underserved and uninsured women. These women are considered the working poor and have little or no resources. Without the program they may not have been given the chance to beat breast cancer. We were able to treat 3 women last year through the campaign and a Komen grant. We feel it is such a positive cause!
Your contribution and support are vital in the Better Together Campaign. The campaign gives the employees many different ways to participate. Please participate in any way you can because every little bit counts!
