May 14: Shape the Future
Today I got to meet Lori, Kim and Cassie, who presented to our Senior Ops team their plan to improve our Shape the Future Scores. If we want to be serious about creating new possibilities at Good Sam, in terms of new program development and improving performance, we must be better at engaging every employee and medical staff member in making and understanding decisions.
I learned from Lori, Kim and Cassie that our recent Pulse survey indicated that our scores are not only lower than the system target but lower than last year's facility scores.
It is each leader’s responsibility to be highly visible with their teams. The Senior Operations team is committed to being much more visible to talk about the possibilities at Good Sam and how each of us can contribute. We will be rounding in the units during the day and in the evening, and I look forward to hosting town halls as well as "lunches" with our staff in the next few weeks.
Banner Good Sam is at a critical juncture in its history and we need each of you to help shape its future as we take the next few steps forward in developing into an academic medical center, attracting the best physicians, nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and all other members of the care team to join this place of possibility.
So next time you spend time with your leader, ask the important questions, understand the "Why" and contribute to shaping the future.
