Banner Good Samaritan Recognized as a “Best Hospital” in U.S.News & World Report
Phoenix hospital recognized for excellence in hormonal disorders, urology and digestive disorders
PHOENIX (July 17, 2003) – For the sixth consecutive year, U.S. News & World Report has recognized Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in the magazine’s annual “Best Hospitals” issue.
Banner Good Samaritan received three citations among the 17 specialties rated by the magazine’s researchers. Banner Good Samaritan was cited for its hormonal disorders program for the sixth consecutive year; and received first-time merits for its urology and gastroenterology (digestive disorders) program. The hospital was the only Arizona facility listed in each of these three categories.
“This is a terrific honor for Banner Good Samaritan, and a well-deserved commendation for our physicians, clinicians and staff that work in these specialized fields,” said Steven Seiler, chief executive officer, Good Samaritan.
“We are proud of the work our physicians and staff accomplish in the fields of hormonal disorders, especially as it relates to diabetes and thyroid disease; urology and the treatment of prostate cancer; and gastroenterology and other digestive disorders,” Seiler added.
The annual report in U.S. News & World Report surveyed 6,003 U.S. hospitals in 13 of 17 specialties on reputation, mortality and a group of care-giving factors such as nursing.
Banner Good Samaritan is Arizona’s largest and busiest medical center. Located in downtown Phoenix, Banner Good Samaritan has been providing medical care since 1911. Today, nearly 1,700 physicians representing nearly 50 specialties work with Banner Good Samaritan staff to provide care to more than 34,000 inpatients a year.
