Harry J. Cavanagh Cardiology Center announced at Banner Good Samaritan
PHOENIX (Sept. 14, 2004) – The newly constructed cardiology center at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, Ariz., has been named in honor of Phoenix-area philanthropist, civic leader and lawyer, Harry J. Cavanagh. The Harry J. Cavanagh Cardiology Center will be officially dedicated on Tuesday, Sept. 14, during a celebration event to recognize the completion of Banner Good Samaritan’s major construction and renovation project.
Located on the second floor of Banner Good Samaritan’s new Ancillary Building, the Cavanagh Cardiology Center encompasses the cardiac catheterization labs (currently six labs), non-invasive cardiology and cardiac rehabilitation. The Cavanagh Cardiology Center has been realized through an effort by Mr. Cavanagh’s friends and family to secure a $3 million gift give to honor his legacy in the community.
“Banner Good Samaritan has long been a leading provider of cardiac services in Arizona,” said Banner Good Samaritan CEO Steve Seiler. “It is our distinct honor that the name, Harry J. Cavanagh, will now help define cardiac medical excellence in our community,” Seiler continued.
Harry J. Cavanagh established the Cavanagh Law Firm, a major law firm in the Phoenix area. Banner Health and Banner Good Samaritan have been grateful beneficiaries of Mr. Cavanagh’s leadership and vision. He is a past chairman of Samaritan Health System and Samaritan Charitable Trust, forerunner organizations of today’s Banner Health and Banner Health Foundation. Further, he is co-founder and co-chair with his wife, Geri, of the LPGA tournament in Phoenix for the benefit of Banner Health cancer care programs. For many years he also has been a generous donor to Banner Good Samaritan.
