Local Arizonian is invited to attend Special Olympics National Golf Tournament
Banner Good Sam employee, Kenneth Williamson, goes for the gold in Florida
PHOENIX (August 28, 2003) – Kenny Williamson, the patient transport elevator operator known for his positive attitude and excellent service for the past 22 years at Banner Good Sam, has been invited to compete in the National Golf Tournament for Special Olympics Arizona. On September 13, Kenny will be flying to Port St. Lucie, Fla., along with six teammates to represent Arizona at this national competition.
Kenny plays golf a couple of times a week and has been playing competitively for many years. His drive, dedication and hard work paid off when his coach, Tom Robinson, invited him to participate in this event. "Coach Robinson said I am ready to go play, so I'm going," Kenny said. "I am both excited and nervous about the trip." Kenny's biggest cheerleader, his mom, will also be flying out to Florida to support him.
Making it to Nationals has been a goal for Kenny for quite some time. Over the years, he has acquired about 60 qualifying medals. "Work comes first, then golf," he added. "I love to work and have the best bosses in the whole world; they are encouraging me to go."
The tournament kicks-off with an opening ceremony, and includes three rounds of nine-hole golf and an awards presentation. "I just like to stay happy, that's all. This was an unexpected trip," said Kenny.
