Patients & Visitors at Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center

Year-round Visitor Guidelines

At Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, we recognize patient visitation to be an important part of the healing process and the patient’s hospital experience. However, we are also committed to providing a safe and secure environment for our patients and staff.

Please take note of the following visitor guidelines:

  • Hospital visiting hours: 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., 7 days a week.
    • Visitors may be asked to leave:
      • At 9 p.m., when visiting hours have ended.
      • When in the best interest of the patient.
      • When visitors do not comply with the Visitation Policy.
  • No more than two visitors per patient, please.
    • Additional visitors are welcome to wait in our lounges and lobbies.
    • All visitors should wash their hands before and after visiting the patient’s room.
  • Children (12 and under):
    • Children are not encouraged to visit hospitalized patients. They may be permitted in some areas of the hospital with nursing approval. Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
    • Additional guidelines may be implemented during flu season for the protection of children and our patients.
  • Quiet Time:
    • Hospital-wide quiet time begins at 8:30 p.m.  Rest is important for patients.
    • Lights and TV volume will be turned down. Please keep noise to a minimum.
  • Waiting Areas:
    • Waiting areas cannot exceed capacity.
    • Additional visitors are encouraged to wait in the Main Lobby, Miss Lulu’s Café, the Banner Good Sam Cafe, or the Healing Garden.
  • After-Hours Visitation:
    • Visitors with permission to remain on the hospital campus after 9 p.m. must obtain a badge from our Security department.
    • To better serve our patients, visitor guidelines vary from one unit to another.
    • Speak with your nurse regarding unit-specific visitation exceptions if you feel that you need to stay in the hospital after visiting hours.
    • To obtain an after-hours visitor badge, bring a completed “After Hours Visitor Exception” form and a picture ID to the Security Officer in the Main Lobby.
