Cancer Research & Clinical Trials
As an overall leader in cancer care, Banner Good Samaritan is active supporters of cancer research and prevention efforts at the local and national levels. The hospital’s sponsorship of such important community events as the American Cancer Society’s Climb to Conquer Cancer walk, the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure®, and the City of Hope’s Walk for Hope highlights its commitment to those touched by cancer.
Additionally, our drive to explore new, advanced diagnosis and treatment options helped make it a pioneer in the clinical use of positron emission tomography (PET) to diagnose and stage cancerous tumors.
Advanced Treatments
Maintaining its position at the forefront of cancer treatment, Banner Good Samaritan is one of a select few hospitals in the country now providing SIR-Sphere® and TheraSphere® treatments for patients diagnosed with inoperable liver cancer. Additionally, Banner Good Samaritan is the first hospital in Arizona to offer the new TomoTherapy Hi-Art System®. Used to treat various types of cancers, TomoTherapy is an integrated system combining the 3-D imaging capabilities of computerized tomography (CT) with highly-targeted radiation therapy to deliver precise and customized treatments.
