Nutritional Counseling
Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center offers nutritionists who are experts in cancer care because we recognize that being well nourished is an important part of recovery.
Being well-nourished means you can tolerate treatment better, causing fewer breaks in your treatment schedule. It also can help you recover faster and maintain a higher quality of life during and after your treatment.
Our board-certified dietitians are members of your overall care team who work with patient, families and caregivers to develop a plan tailored to your needs.
We can help hospitalized patients with:
-
Assessing your nutritional needs
-
Determining your nutritional goals
-
Developing practical strategies to help meet nutritional needs
-
Minimizing and coping with treatment side effects such as weight loss, dehydration, difficulty in swallowing and dry mouth.
-
Educating patients and caregivers about food safety at home
-
Providing follow-up care (as needed) through your treatment
