Congestive Heart Failure Treatment
Patients from across the Southwest U.S. come to Cavanagh Heart Center in Phoenix, Ariz. for congestive heart failure treatment.
Each Cavanagh Heart Center patient is evaluated as an individual and our Cavanagh Heart Center physicians can help patients when other treatments may not be working.
We excel because we understand the correct combination of diagnostics, prevention techniques, medications and surgical interventions is key for each patient.
We offer these treatments for congestive heart failure:
- Diagnostic Testing and Treatment - We offer techniques such as cardiac catheterization, computed tomography (CT), coronary angiography, Doppler ultrasound, holter monitoring, echocardiography, electrocardiography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear imaging, and stress testing may be used either to diagnose and sometimes treat the early stages of congestive heart failure.
- Disease Progression Prevention - Our goal is to limit the progression of heart failure once a patient has been diagnosed. We work with dieticians, physical therapists, cardiac rehabilitation, and specialists in other disciplines to make sure our patients understand how to most effectively manage their lifestyle choices.
- Medical Management - Most patients with heart failure are prescribed medications to lessen the symptoms of heart failure. These medications may include ACE inhibitors, beta blockers, angiotensin receptor blockers, digoxin, diuretics, aldosterone antagonists, hydralazine and nitrates or other medical therapies. Medical management may also include intravenous (inserted directly into the vein) medications.
- Surgical Interventions - Cavanagh Heart Center offers surgical interventions for heart failure not found at other U.S. hospitals. We are one of the first to offer LVAD (left ventricular assist device) implantation for advanced heart failure patients who are not eligible for heart transplants.
Our cardiothoracic surgeons also perform coronary artery bypass surgery, valve surgery, and reconstruction surgery. Our electrophysiologists, experts in heart rhythm conditions, insert pacemakers and implantable cardio defibrilators as well as perform ablation therapies.
