Our patients are evaluated and educated by a neurologist, physical, occupational, and speech therapists, nurse, dietitian, social worker, and pharmacist in one three-hour visit. Representatives from community groups may also be available for counseling. Families are encouraged to stay with the patient throughout the clinic visit.
Our Clinics:
ALS: The ALS Clinic is nationally certified by the ALS Association. Please note that patients must have a physician referral to participate in this clinic.
Parkinson's Disease: Our Parkinson's Center is a recognized Information Center and Referral site for the American Parkinson’s Disease Association in the Phoenix area. As part of our treatment program, we also offer the Lee Silverman Voice Training program and “Big and Loud” voice therapy and Apokyn therapy.
Neuropathy: Banner Good Samaritan is one of 12 certified Neuropathy Centers in the country. A typical visit to the neuropathy clinic lasts 2.5 hours. During this visit, the patient is evaluated by our neurologist, a physical and an occupational therapist, and a nurse. A pharmacist and pain psychologist are available for consultation in person. An electromyography (EMG) and a nerve conduction study (NCS) are often required for proper diagnosis and treatment of peripheral neuropathy. Patients may refer themselves to this clinic.
Multiple Sclerosis: The patient is evaluated by a multidisciplinary team including a neurologist who specializes in MS. The clinic visit lasts three hours. The patient can meet with a MS Society representative. Patients are requested to return every three-12 months for follow-up visits to the clinic. Please note that patients must have a physician referral to participate in this clinic.
Banner Good Samaritan is a certified Tysabri infusion site. MS patients who are candidates for Tysabri infusion, or who are already receiving Tysabri infusions, can be infused at our facility.
Stroke: The Stroke Clinic provides outpatient care and monitoring for those who have suffered a stroke and helps patients take part in research studies for new therapies and medications, as well as participate in stroke outcome studies.
