Stroke Team

The Banner Good Samaritan Stroke Team is made up of physicians, a nurse practitioner, a stroke coordinator, and nurses.

Physicians on our Stroke Team include:

• Douglas Franz, MD
• Aleksander Tkach, MD

Douglas Franz, MD
Dr. Franz is a graduate of Dartmouth School of Medicine. He completed his neurology residency at University of Arizona in Tucson, Ariz., followed by fellowship training in stroke neurology and neuro-critical care training. 

Board certified in neurology, Dr. Franz participates in multiple national and international clinical trials related to stroke. His research interests include acute therapies for stroke and intracerebral hemorrhage. His academic interests lie in the medical education of students and residents.
