Stroke

Recognize signs of stroke

Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States and the number one cause of adult disability. When the brain is deprived of the oxygen and nutrients it needs, the cells begin to die within seconds.

Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center is a certified Primary Stroke Center. Banner Good Samaritan is committed to providing advanced, comprehensive care for stroke patients. This advanced care often begins in the Emergency department where a team of stroke specialists uses advanced technology to restore blood flow to the brain, saving lives, and improving patient outcomes.

In addition to providing emergency and in-patient hospital services for stroke patients, Banner Good Samaritan also has an inpatient Rehabilitation Institute specializing in the rehabilitation of stroke patients.

The outpatient stroke clinic and a transient ischemic attack (TIA) clinic offer continuing care for stroke patients discharged from Banner Good Samaritan and for patients out in the community.
