Fetal Surgery
The Maternal Fetal Center, located within Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, is a collaborative effort with maternal and pediatric subspecialties to provide consultation and care for the mother and family of developing babies diagnosed with fetal abnormalities.
This includes state-of-the-art fetal surgery performed in the hospital while the baby is still in utero (in the womb). Our surgical procedures include:
- Percutaneous Umbilical Cord Sampling (PUBS) and Fetal Intrauterine Transfusion (FITS)
- Twin- to-Twin Transfusion Cord Ablation
- Fetal Shunt Placement
Our experienced staff offers the highest quality care, along with reassuring comfort during this time. Our Fetal Surgery program is directed by Garrett Lam, MD, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist in in-utero therapies and William Clewell, MD, a maternal-fetal medicine specialist who is a pioneer in fetal therapy, with more than 20 years of experience in in-utero procedures.
