2009 Maternity Package Plans
Banner Health, a nonprofit health care organization, and Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center, are pleased to offer several Financial Assistance programs for maternity patients. Our program is thoughtfully designed to help those who are able to pay a moderate portion of the costs of their care and for those able to pay a small portion of the costs of their care or who are without the ability to pay.
Options are based on length of your hospital stay and the type of care you receive.
- OPTION A – 24-Hour Normal Vaginal Birth Package Plan
- OPTION B – 48-Hour Normal Vaginal Birth Package Plan
- OPTION C – 48-Hour Vaginal Birth with Tubal Ligation
- OPTION D – 72-Hour Uncomplicated Cesarean Birth with or without Tubal Ligation
- Epidural – (applies to Options A and B only)

OPTION A – 24-Hour Normal Vaginal Birth Package Plan
$3,113 or with epidural $4,012
This plan includes all routine services and treatment rendered for mother and baby(ies) that relate to uncomplicated labor, birth, postpartum care, nursery care and circumcision as long as the care is provided within the 24 hour stay from the time of birth. The hospital will reassess charges if mother and baby need to stay in the hospital longer than 24 hours or if complications arise.
OPTION B – 48-Hour Normal Vaginal Birth Package Plan
$4,245 or with epidural $5,144
This plan includes all routine services and treatment rendered for mother and baby(ies) that relate to uncomplicated labor, birth postpartum care, nursery care and circumcision as long as the care is provided within the 48 hour stay from the time of birth. The hospital will reassess charges if mother and baby need to stay in the hospital longer than 48 hours of if complications arise.
OPTION C – 48-Hour Vaginal Birth with Tubal Ligation
$5,410
This plan includes all routine services and treatment rendered for mother and baby(ies) that relate to uncomplicated labor, birth, tubal ligation, postpartum care, nursery care and circumcision as long as the care is provided within the 48 hour stay from the time of birth. The hospital will reassess charges if mother and baby need to stay in the hospital longer than 48 hours or if complications arise.
OPTION D – 72-Hour Uncomplicated Cesarean Birth with or without Tubal Ligation
$7,183
This plan includes all routine services and treatment rendered for mother and baby(ies) that relate to uncomplicated cesarean birth, postpartum care, nursery care and circumcision as long as the care is provided within the 72 hour stay from the time of birth. The hospital will reassess charges if mother and baby(ies) need to stay in the hospital longer than 72 hours of if complications arise. This plan also includes general or epidural anesthesia (anesthesiologist’s fees not included). If you choose Option A, B, or C, you are automatically eligible for this plan in the event of a cesarean birth. We will apply your prepayment for options A, B, or C to the $5,468 rate and you will need to pay the balance due when you are discharged from the hospital.
Epidural – (applies to Options A and B only)
$899
You can purchase an epidural package in addition to Option A or B. This prepaid package includes all supply charges for as long as needed during labor and after birth. If circumstances during delivery do not allow for an epidural, we will refund and/or credit it to your account. This option does not include the anesthesiologist’s fees.
Exclusions to package plans
None of the options cover a diagnosis or complication that would place mother or baby in a high-risk category not considered part of a normal or uncomplicated cesarean section before or after birth.
You will receive a separate bill from your obstetrician, anesthesiologist, pediatrician, nurse practitioner, and any other doctors taking part in the management of your or baby(ies) care. None of the package plans cover these fees and services.
The options do not cover outpatient visits to the hospital for services such as the following:
- Prostaglandin gel insertion not resulting in admission
- Ultrasound testing
- 28-Week Rhogam shot
- Versions (rotating baby in utero for normal head first birth)
- Nonstress testing (NST), contraction stress testing (CST)
- Unsuccessful labor inductions
- Prenatal classes
- Genetic testing
- Diabetic teaching
- Amniocentesis, amnio-fusion, percutaneous umbilical blood sampling (PUBS)
The payment plans do not cover inpatient visits such as the following:
- Any undelivered admission
- Intensive care unit admission for mother
- Special care unit admission for baby
- Infant phototherapy for jaundice
- Newborn boarder care
- Your baby’s first photo
- Infant car seat
- Newborn hearing screening
These plans do not cover these other services:
- Any surgical procedure not mentioned in Options A, B, or D.
- Transportation services to or from the hospital
The OB system package plan can be transferred from one Banner hospital to another, but we cannot transfer a plan to or from another hospital outside of the Banner Health system.
If you have any additional charges, the Birth Recorder or Patient Services will inform you when you come down to the Admitting office to complete the paperwork for baby(ies) birth certificate, any additional monies will need to be paid at that time. This needs to be done before discharge from the hospital.
