Banner Good Samaritan is a nationally known center for high-risk obstetrics, the care of mothers and fetuses at risk for serious health complications during pregnancy and birth. We are one of only six hospitals in Arizona with Level III Perinatal Services. Banner Good Samaritan works in close partnership with Phoenix Children’s Hospital and its Level III Intensive Care Nursery is located adjacent to our labor and delivery surgical rooms.
Women come from around the nation, and in some cases the world, to receive care at Banner Good Samaritan from highly skilled perinatologists (physicians who specialize in high-risk obstetrics) and an equally impressive staff of nurses and other health professionals. Many women who are high risk are admitted to the hospital weeks prior to birth. They are cared for in our Antepartum unit. Our caring and experienced staff works closely with expecting mothers and their families to facilitate a maximum yet appropriate level of family involvement on the units.
Fetal Therapy
Banner Good Samaritan is Arizona’s only hospital providing highly complex in-utero therapies to address fetal disorders before birth. These minimally invasive therapies include:
- Fetal transfusion
- Shunts
- Umbilical cord occlusions.
Banner Good Samaritan physicians and staff also have experience caring for pregnant women who have serious health disorders and who are in need of specialized care to ensure a healthy birth. Patients suffering from the following disorders are commonly referred to Banner Good Samaritan:
