Ways to Give to Banner Good Samaritan Medical Center

Volunteer Resources

Banner Good Samaritan volunteers include students, adults, retired individuals, winter visitors and those who work part-time and full-time jobs. This group donates nearly 50,000 hours to the hospital annually.
Banner Good Samaritan's Volunteer Resources also has raised and donated nearly $7 million since 1953 through various fundraisers.
You don't need medical experience to be a volunteer. Our goal is to match your interests with numerous opportunities, including:
  • Patient Care: Volunteers work in the Emergency and Surgery departments and Nursing units.
  • Gift Shop Volunteer: Helps customers, cashiers and stocks merchandise.
  • Clerical Assistant: Helps in many hospital departments.
  • Visitor Services: Provides help and comfort at the main desk or surgery/ICU waiting area.
  • Dog Therapy: Volunteers and their therapy dogs visit patients.
"Banner Good Samaritan could not operate as effectively without the support of volunteers from throughout the community," said Kristina Proctor, Volunteer Resources coordinator at Banner Good Samaritan. "These special people truly aid in the care and recovery of our patients."
Service from the Heart
The rewards of volunteering are many:
  • Volunteers may develop an interest in a medical profession.
  • Volunteers gain work experience needed when applying for a job.
  • Volunteers receive intangible rewards while contributing to patient care and recovery.
  • Volunteers make lifelong friends.
When can I Volunteer?
We offer flexibility in scheduling. We ask that volunteers donate at least four hours each week. Positions are available mornings, afternoons and evenings, seven days a week.
The Volunteer Resources program also operates a very active Teen Volunteer program. The minimum age for teen volunteers is 16.
Any teen who wants to be involved in the summer Teen Volunteer Program should call no later than April to secure a place in the summer program.
