Thousands of people avoided a trip to the busy emergency department by calling the hotline, which has been serving Arizona for over 30 years.
Alert for parents
New laundry detergents that are sold in single-use soft squishy pods or packs can be very dangerous to young children.
Poison centers across the country are reporting some serious effects when children bite into the pods and swallow the contents or get it into their eyes.
Parents are urged to store these pods out of reach and out of sight of toddlers.
Drug overdoses kill more than car accidents
More Americans now die from drug overdoses than in car accidents.
Nearly 15,000 people die every year of overdoses involving prescription painkillers - greater than those deaths from heroin and cocaine combined.
