Banner Heart Hospital opened in 2000 in Mesa, Ariz., adjacent to Banner Baywood Medical Center. In 2004, the facility expanded from 60 beds to 111, nearly doubling in size. As a result, Banner Heart Hospital is now one of the largest freestanding heart hospitals in the nation and the largest in Arizona.
In addition to telemetry and intensive care services, Banner Heart Hospital also has four operating room suites and five cardiac catheterization labs, including a dedicated electrophysiology lab.
Banner Heart Hospital offers state-of-the-art technology including robotic surgery which allows patients to heal faster. It also has electronic-medical records system.
As a top heart hospital, more than 500 heart care specialists work at our hospital. Banner Heart Hospital has a growing medical staff of nearly 450 including cardiologists, cardiovascular and vascular surgeons, and other primary care and specialty physicians.
Excellent physicians working with experienced staff provide the latest heart care technology in an environment of clinical distinction, compassion and healing.
In November 2008, Banner Heart Hospital was designated a 100 Top Hospital for cardiovascular care by Thomson-Reuters. This is the third time Banner Heart Hospital has been recognized for this prestigious award in its eight-year history.
In 2010, Banner Heart Hospital is slated to expand. The expansion would add two operating rooms, one catheterization lab and one electrophysiology lab. The plan also features two shells for future use as catheterization labs.
The expansion also folds into the hospital’s mission of becoming a destination heart facility for the Southwest and beyond. The hospital may expand its robotics programs and add more innovations in the coming year.
