New dictation/transcription system to Go Live June 1
Banner Baywood Medical Center and Banner Heart Hospital will be switching to the new Nuance dictation/transcription system. Here are some commonly asked questions about the new system:
Will I have to dial a different phone number to dictate?
Yes. You will dial 1-866-924-9551 from outside the facility – The internal extension will change to 747–3700 as Banner is moving to a 7 digit internal extension. These numbers will be the same across Banner.
Will I need to do anything different?
Yes. Dictation work type codes have been standardized across all of Banner. A new dictation instruction card will be mailed to your office mid-May that will outline new work types. These will be effective beginning June 1, 2011 at 8 a.m. Instructions will also be posted on the units to assist with the transition. You may also pick up additional dictation cards in the HIMS Departments at Banner Baywood and Banner Heart, in the Medical Staff Services offices at Banner Baywood and Banner Heart and in the physician lounges starting mid-May.
Dictator ID will be your unique Banner User ID (MedSeries 4 number which will be included in your mailed packet)
You will enter a unique facility Code – Baywood 40 – Heart 70
Patient account number will be entered (not Medical Record number)
The system will require a “#” after each telephone entry
Why are we standardizing work type codes across Banner?
Because all Banner facilities will be on the same dictation/transcription platform, it is important that all hospitals use the same codes to improve turnaround times and to reduce the number of computer interfaces needed. This will also allow you to move effortlessly between Banner facilities.
Can I still see my reports in Cerner?
Yes. Reports will still flow into Cerner as they do today.
