Using Video Remote Interpreter for interpreting services
From time to time, interpreting services are needed in the course of patient care. Previously there have been several vendors used to provide such services. Effective immediately, all staff should use Video Remote Interpreter (VRI) as the interpretive services vendor. VRI is the most efficient, cost-effective interpreting service available and is a Banner Health standard.
While there are a few interpreting needs not covered by VRI, all efforts need to be made to use VRI where it applies. For those services not provided by VRI, please be sure to document the need for “other than VRI” services, and inform Patient Relations that you have used a substitute vendor. Moving forward, invoices for interpreting services by vendors other than VRI, and without appropriate documentation, will be charged to the ordering department.
If you have team members who need assistance with VRI training, please contact Gus Reyna or Maggie Mitchell in Patient Relations, at (480) 321-4540. They will gladly assist you with your education needs in regards to VRI.
Thanks for your assistance in making this change.
