Dr. Stein takes over as Chief of Staff
Banner Heart Hospital congratulates Darryl Stein, MD, as Banner Heart's new Chief of Staff for the 2012-2013 term. Dr. Stein will have a column in future Heart.doc editions with important information aimed at physicians who practice at Banner Heart Hospital. Heart.doc had an opportunity to talk to Dr. Stein to find out a little more about him and his goals as the new Chief of Staff.
Heart.doc: How long have you been practicing in the Valley?
Dr. Stein: I’ve been practicing as a cardiac surgeon in the Valley for the past 15 years and have been with Banner Heart since its opening.
Heart.doc: To you, what’s most special about Banner Heart Hospital?
Dr. Stein: Banner Heart Hospital is unique in the Valley. It’s the only hospital fully dedicated to cardiovascular care. Our patients receive the best possible care in a focused environment. Everyone – from the admissions staff to the nurses, to the volunteers, to the physicians – is in tune with the disease processes related to cardiovascular health.
Heart.doc: What are some of your goals for 2012?
Dr. Stein: There will be many challenges to integrating the new healthcare government mandates into the delivery of care by physicians and the hospital. That will be our biggest challenge. I have been involved with the medical staff and our committees since the hospital opened and I know that our overall goal is for this to be the best in the Southwest for patients to receive cardiovascular care. It is also my goal that our physicians fell they have everything they need to take the very best possible care of their patients.
Heart.doc: When you get a little spare time, what do you like to do?
Dr. Stein: I like to ski in Arizona and to hike in and around the great state of Arizona!
