Cardiac Arrest Center
Banner Heart Hospital, the only heart hospital in the East Valley, is certified as a Cardiac Arrest Center by Arizona's Bureau of Emergency Medical Services and Trauma System.
The certification means the hospital meets state standards in caring for cardiac-arrest patients.
At the core of our treatment is a unique therapy: hypothermia.
- When a cardiac-arrest patient remains comatose after the initial attack, we lower the patient's body temperature by using ice packs or other methods during the first few hours.
- This can preserve the patient's neurological function while comatose.
- The cold treatment is followed by a natural warming, where the body brings itself back to a normal temperature.
