There's an old saying that laughter is the best medicine. At Banner Heart Hospital and Banner Baywood Medical Center, we put that old adage to the test by offering humor therapy to our patients and visitors.
These volunteer caring clowns make the rounds throughout our two hospitals, as well as the Emergency department and the nearby medical office building.
Research has found that laughing may lower blood pressure, reduce stress, increase muscle tension and boost immune function. Laughter also triggers the release of endorphins, the body's natural painkillers, and produces a general sense of well-being.
