A Little DASH Will Do You: Banner Health Heart Series Lecture on Heart Disease and a Heart-Healthy Diet
Wednesday, May 20; 5–7 p.m.
Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension (DASH) is a flexible and balanced eating plan based on research studies sponsored by the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute (NHLBI). These studies showed that DASH lowers high blood pressure and improves levels of blood lipids (fats in the bloodstream), which reduces the risk of developing cardiovascular disease. DASH requires no special foods and emphasizes vegetables, fruits and fat-free or low-fat dairy products including whole grains, fish, poultry, beans, seeds, nuts and vegetable oils. This free class will be held at Banner Heart Hospital, 6750 E. Baywood Avenue in Mesa. Registration is required. To register, call (602) 230-2273(CARE).
