Banner Health is excited to be expanding our hospice services throughout Maricopa County through the acquisition of Odyssey Hospice's Phoenix operations.

Question: Why did Banner Health acquire Odyssey’s hospice operations in the Phoenix area?

Answer:

Odyssey Hospice’s Phoenix operations and Banner Health have much in common: talented, dedicated people; a commitment to clinical excellence and professional integrity; and a dedication to provide the communities in the Phoenix area with the absolute best in compassionate hospice care.

Question: Will anything change for customers as a result of the acquisition?

Answer:
All customers in the marketplace will continue to experience the same compassionate, high-quality service. People are the heart of Odyssey as they are to Banner Health. Odyssey and Banner both have great reputations in the marketplace. The addition of Odyssey’s Phoenix hospice services to Banner’s comprehensive health care network will give us the opportunity to serve a growing market.

Question: Why is this good for Odyssey’s associates?

Answer: Odyssey associates have an opportunity to grow and thrive with Banner Health, voted as one of the best places to work. The addition of resources from a comprehensive health care provider like Banner will help Odyssey associates grow even stronger. Banner benefits from the high caliber of people and performance already in place at Odyssey’s Phoenix operations.

Question: What will this mean to our patients and communities?

Answer: All customers will continue to experience the same compassionate, high-quality care they have been used to. Our mission remains the same: to provide compassionate care to patients and families. Odyssey has been a trusted partner in the community and its associates and customers in the Phoenix area are now joining one of the most trusted healthcare providers. We will continue to deliver excellent care, now backed by the exceptional resources of Banner Health.

Question: How will the process of becoming a part of Banner work?

Answer: The transaction is expected to be completed by Dec. 1, 2012. Banner and Odyssey are working to ensure a smooth transition beneficial to all patients, families, referral sources and employees. We expect a seamless transition with no disruption in service and performance as we integrate our home-based operations and Mesa inpatient unit.

Question: As Odyssey is a part of the Gentiva family, are any other Gentiva locations affected?

Answer
: No. Gentiva Home Health will continue to operate in the Phoenix area. In addition, both Gentiva Home Health and Odyssey Hospice will continue to serve the Tucson area.
