Banner MD Anderson Cancer Center offers a variety of wellness classes to assist cancer survivors and their support teams. These classes are offered for all survivors at any stage in their journey to wellness. All classes are at no cost to cancer survivors and their support or caregivers, and are open to the community.

Weight loss tools for Breast Cancer Survivors
6 week series beginning on May 23
Wednesdays, 10 a.m.
Weight gain after treatment for breast cancer is very common. In this series of classes, a registered dietitian and an exercise physiologist will provide weight management or weight loss strategies and lifestyle recommendations to lower your risk of breast cancer reoccurance. Music and Expressive Arts Class
Tuesday, May 22
This monthly group is for those diagnosed with cancer to help manage stress, promote well-being and connect with others. Participate in a journey of exploration and expression through music making and listening, imagery, art and writing. Each class has a different theme. Open to family and friends.
Mondays, May 6 and 20
Patients and caregivers are encouraged to attend this introductory class to cancer, chemotherapy and side effect management. Our nursing and pharmacy staff will help you better understand how chemotherapy works and offer helpful tips for managing common side effects such as low blood counts, nausea, vomiting, mouth sores, and much more. Classes are held in the Sierra Room.
Cooking for Wellness
A cooking demonstration class led by our head chef, Heather Metell. The class will focus on recipes with cancer fighting ingredients. Classes are held in the Bistro. Held quarterly throughout the year.
Nutrition during Cancer Treatment
Tuesday, May 7
A registered dietician will discuss optimal nutrition for cancer patients. You will learn how to preserve lead body mass, decrease risk of infection, maintain physical strength and improve your tolerance to cancer treatment. Classes are held in the Sierra Room.
A calming yoga that stretches our bodies safely while relaxing our minds. Yoga will be done sitting in the chair or standing behind the chair for assistance. This 45 minute class will be held on Monday mornings at 10 am in the Sierra Room.
Yoga aimed at releasing the tension in your muscles and mind. This one hour class will be held on Wednesday’s at 4 pm in the Learning Center.
A supportive yoga class that stretches the body and allows the mind to decompress. This is a mat-based class. The class also will include breath work and meditation. The one hour class is held on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the Sierra Room.
Learn to relax and calm the body and mind through meditation. A meditation CD will be provided for home use. Call our Wellness Coordinator at (480) 256-4141 to schedule.
