Visiting Hours
Restricted hospital visiting hours are 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., unless otherwise indicated. Please understand that there are occasions when hospital staff may ask visitors to leave in order to better care for the patient.
Of course, exceptions do exist. Please note the following:
Limited visiting hours are 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Visitors may enter the hospital through the East and Emergency Department entrances only. Security will be stationed at the east entrance for visitor check-in and badges.
Partners in Caring participants are allowed to stay in the patient's room at night. If they leave the building during restricted hours, they must check-in with Security at the East entrance desk.
Visiting hours do not restrict OB/Triage patients.
Pediatrics/Children's Center
Parents are welcome all day.
Critical Care Unit
Due to patient care activity by the hospital staff, the CCU is closed to visitors during the following hours.
- 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
- 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
- 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
- 1 a.m. to 2 a.m.
Adult Behavioral Health Unit
Visiting hours are 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Due to the nature of treatment needs, visiting hours are limited and subject to change. Nursing units can advise regarding holiday visiting schedules and opportunities for family members to participate in educational sessions.
Visitors must be 15 years of age or older.
All food items are prohibited, and any beverages must be in factory-sealed containers.
Dining
The Banner Thunderbird food services areas are located on the lower level and offer a variety of hot and cold food seven days a week. Hot meals are served from 6 to 9:30 a.m., 11 a.m. to 2p.m. and from 4:30 to 8 p.m. in the Urban Eatery. In Fresh Creations we serve from 10:30 a.m. until 2:30 p.m. Monday - Friday.
Parking
Visitors are invited to use the parking structures on the East side (55th Avenue) or South side (Eugie Avenue) of the hospital, not to mention the various lots surrounding the hospital.
Wireless Phones
Cellular phones and two-way pagers are permitted in most areas of the hospital. Their use is prohibited in the Emergency Department, surgical areas and any of the hospital's intensive care or critical care units where they might interfere with patient care.
Smoking Policy
Banner Thunderbird is a tobacco-free campus. Smoking and the use of tobacco products is prohibited anywhere on the campus.
ATM Machine
An ATM machine is located in the Banner Thunderbird North Lobby located at the main entrance.
Interpreting Services
Patients have the right to request an interpreter in your native language to effectively communicate with your health care providers. Services include:
- Cyracom – a user-friendly patient phone interpreting system covering 168 languages. Language Line is located on all units and is available 24 hours a day.
- Spanish Interpreters--Spanish bilingual interpreters are available from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sunday through Saturday. Please ask your nurse to contact our in-house interpreters for assistance.
Spiritual Care
The Department of Spiritual Care is committed to creating a nurturing environment for the spiritual and emotional needs of patients, families and staff. To request a visit from one of our chaplains, ask your nurse to call the chaplain on pager (602) 223-1868. The Chapel, located in the North Lobby, is available for quiet reflection and meditation.
