Featuring board-certified emergency physicians, specialty-trained nurses and support staff, the Emergency department at Banner Thunderbird is well-equipped to diagnose and treat injuries and illnesses.
More than 75,000 adults and children are cared for each year in Banner Thunderbird's Emergency department. The department is staffed by experienced physicians and registered nurses certified in both Adult and Pediatric Life Support. Emergency technicians and members of other specialty areas are also a part of the Emergency department.
The walk-in entrance to the Emergency department is at the southeast corner of the campus, on the first floor of the hospital’s new South Tower. Banner Thunderbird’s new tower also features two rooftop helipads for emergency air transport.
Communication plays a key role in a patient’s successful course of treatment in the Emergency department. Language and interpretive services are available at all Banner facilities; please ask the nurse or Emergency department receptionist about these services.
Specialized Pediatric Care
Banner Thunderbird Medical Center features a separate pediatric Emergency department that includes its own waiting area and dedicated treatment rooms. Banner Thunderbird recognizes that children are not small adults and that they require specialized care. That’s why Banner Thunderbird's Pediatric Emergency department is staffed by specially trained nurses and board-certified pediatric emergency physicians.
