Teen Volunteer Program
Our teen volunteers make significant contributions of time and talent to the medical center. Because our goal is to have each teen have a positive learning experience as a volunteer, we have established the following criteria to our Teen Volunteer Program:
1) Year-round Volunteer Opportunities for Teens
- Banner Thunderbird has a year-round teen volunteer program that is open to high school students who are at least 14 years of age and a freshman in high school.
- Because of the popularity of our teen volunteer program, new volunteers are accepted only as openings are available.
- Teen volunteers are asked to make a minimum commitment of at least 100 hours of volunteer service over a six month period of time. These hours are generally served in one shift of three to four hours a week.
- All exceptions must be agreed upon in advance.
2) Summer Volunteer Opportunities for Teens
- Teen volunteer applications are generally not accepted during the summer months.
- Teens who wish to volunteer during the summer months and beyond should start their volunteer service no later than May 1.
- To ensure a start date of May 1, applications should be submitted no later than March 15.
- All exceptions must be agreed upon in advance.
