Who can volunteer?

Banner Children's is looking for a wide range of volunteers including students, adults, retired individuals, winter visitors and part-time workers. It is important to us to match the interest of volunteers to the opportunities at the hospital.

When and how often do I volunteer?

We typically ask our volunteers to donate four hours each week. Our hospital is a 24-hour a day operation and volunteer hours are available in the morning, afternoon and evening, as well as on the weekends. We'll always work with volunteers to develop a convenient schedule that fits the needs of the volunteer.

What areas in the hospital can I volunteer?

Volunteers have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas of the hospital, and can choose to work in patient care areas, with the public or with health care staff.

What are the rewards of volunteering?

Volunteering can help people to develop special interests in the medical profession, can provide valuable work experience needed for applying for jobs, scholarships and college programs, can contribute to society by giving back to the community. Volunteers enjoy discounted pricing in our Gift Shop and in the Cafeteria, as well.

What happens after I apply?

The application will be reviewed by our Volunteer Services department and a representative will contact you. New volunteers must attend an orientation session, be interviewed by a department staff member and receive on-the-job training. A health screening and background check is also required.
