Dog Therapy

Patient and Dog therapist (480) 412-4108

Cardon Children's Dog Therapy program is the first hospital-based dog therapy program in Arizona.

We have fourteen therapy dogs, part of more than 100 dogs involved in the Banner Health systemwide program.

Please let us know if your children would be interested in having one of our dogs make a "house call.''

Therapy dogs have wonderful temperaments, are obedient, have the ability to learn and are well groomed. They also must readily accept strangers, sit still amidst distractions and not react adversely to other dogs. Most importantly, they have to undergo six-to-twelve months of extensive training and receive certification by the Arizona Department of Health Services.

While the dogs obviously give the program its star power, a corps of volunteers either serve as the pets' "managers" or coordinate their schedules. They, too, are an important part of the success story.

No medicine. No needles. Just good, old-fashioned TLC delivered in a genuinely furry, four-legged way!
