Cardon Children's Medical Center is a comprehensive children's hospital that serves greater Phoenix, the state of Arizona and beyond.
We offer a comprehensive Asthma Education program, using both inpatient and outpatient services to best treat children with asthma.
Our Asthma Education program provides individualized education to patients, covering such topics as triggers, warning signs, symptoms, testing, medication and treatments. We also provide home management plans, organized to help patients control asthma after discharge.
In the hospital, patients are offered the Pulmonary Function Test to determine how well they are breathing. Patients can ask for these tests several times a year to track their improvement.
Cardon Children’s Asthma Education program supports the use of peak flow meters, which helps a patient monitor his or her asthma at home.
Each child with asthma receives an individualizes asthma care plan to be utilized while at home and school or daycare. In addition, an Asthma Self-Care Guide/Educational Workbook is provided to each family to assist in improving asthma control, at home, and prevent future emergency visits.
