Our Family Care Center is located off the main hall of the NICU.
Families can rest and relax here in area designed exclusively for them. There's a television, computer, snack and soda machines, and a lounge area. Toys and books are also available in this area for siblings to use, as long as they are supervised by an adult and there is no restriction on sibling visitation in the unit.
Personalizing your space
We encourage you to personalize your baby’s bed space. You can bring in family photos, prayer cards, or mementos and place them next to your baby’s isolette or crib. You can also make scrapbook pages or cards with your baby’s name and birth information. If you have other children, you can have them color pictures or make signs for their new sibling. You can also bring in blankets and clothes for your baby to use here in the NICU. Make sure they are either new or clean and are labeled with your baby’s name.
Parent Resource Library
Located in the Family Care Center is the Parent Resource Library, which is open around the clock. Feel free to use our computer to search the Internet for additional information or support. You can connect with other NICU families on the Cardon Children’s Medical Center NICU Facebook Page. This Facebook Page offers links to information on a variety of health related topics as well as a list of future NICU events.
If you would like to use your own device, a Wi-Fi network is available throughout the hospital. Log onto this network using your baby’s account number as the user name and password. Learn more about connecting to the Internet.
Snacks and meals
There are nutrition stations available to all parents and visitors next to A and F pods; they are stocked with snacks, a water and ice machine, and a coffee station.
The Banner Bistro offers hot and cold food seven days a week. The Banner Bistro is located on the first floor of the hospital, accessible from Cardon Children's Medical Center and Banner Desert Medical Center. Hours of operation are 6:30 a.m. to 2:30 a.m.
To keep your baby’s bed space clean and protect equipment, please eat snacks and meals in the Family Care Center. You may bring drinks to your baby’s bedside as long as they are covered or are in a container that can be sealed.
Our chapel is located on the first floor and is always open. Chaplain services are available; ask your nurse or social worker for assistance.
