The Pediatric Rehabilitation Program at Cardon Children's Medical Center offers a full range of aquatic rehabilitation services.
The program includes one-on-one sessions and an individualized physical therapy plan of care to meet the needs of each child. Current research points to several benefits of aquatic therapy, including improvements in functional mobility, range of motion, strength, endurance and pain reduction.
Who benefits from Aquatic Therapy?
Infants, toddlers and school-aged children have shown dramatic improvements after participating in aquatic therapy intervention.
Our therapists use water and specifically designed activities to enhance or restore a child’s functional abilities. Conditions may be acute, chronic or transient. Once these skills are gained in water, they can translate to land-based therapeutic activities. Children of all ages can benefit from aquatic therapy. Pertinent diagnoses include:
- Developmental delay
- Cerebral palsy
- Prader-Willi Syndrome
- Orthopedic conditions, ncluding limited weight
- Post-surgical candidates
