Laboratory Services

The Banner Lassen Medical Center laboratory provides both inpatient and outpatient testing. We are committed to serving our patients in the most efficient, caring manner possible and to giving accurate and timely results to your physician. Our laboratory staff members are certified clinical laboratory scientists and phlebotomists.

Our Hospital Lab staff performs the following diagnostic tests:

  • Blood Draws—all ages, including pediatric and neonatal patients
  • Screens for strep, mono, pregnancy and RSV.
  • Glucose tolerance tests
  • Gestational screens
  • Newborn screens—PKU test and supplemental screening
  • Handing out specimen collection containers (also a drop-off site for specimen collections)
  • Chemistry/lipid panels
  • Drug screening
  • A1C testing for diabetes
  • Complete blood counts
  • Urinalysis
  • Blood Banking for transfusion of packed cells, platelets, and fresh frozen plasma.
  • Blood cultures
  • Microbiology cultures for strep screens, urine cultures, and others.
  • Breath alcohol – Banner Draw Station
  • Therapeutic drug levels

Most of this testing is done on-site. However, we do send some of our laboratory specimens to Mayo Reference Laboratory and Horizon Laboratory.

The Banner Lab Draw Station located on Paul Bunyan Drive is open Monday – Friday from 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. closed from 11:30 -12:30 for lunch.  The Laboratory located in Banner Lassen Medical Center is open daily from 7 am– 5:30 p.m. for outpatients closed from 11:30 -12:30 for lunch.

Several of our major equipment platforms are new, including our coagulation analyzer, hematology ananlyzer and chemistry analyzer.
