Cardiac Rehab at EMCH
Following diagnosis and treatment, those with heart conditions can take advantage of East Morgan County Hospital’s Cardiac Rehabilitation program. It is designed for patients diagnosed with one or more of the following conditions:
- Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG)
- Heart transplant
- Heart valve repair or replacement
- Myocardial infarction (heart attack)
- Stable angina
- Stent placement
The outpatient program provides patients and family members with information on how to improve their diet, create and maintain an exercise regimen and reduce stress levels needed to live a heart healthy lifestyle. The patient also enjoys medically supervised exercise sessions.
The maintenance phase is for those who have experienced, or are at risk of, developing heart disease. It includes supervised exercise and ongoing support to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Participants can build on their progress in the outpatient program and enjoy the company of others working to enhance fitness and heart health.
Cardiac rehabilitation, which is covered by most Medicare and insurance plans, has been shown to:
- Speed recovery
- Reduce the risk of future cardiac events
- Helps prevent an existing condition from worsening
