McKee Cancer Center

Opened in 2002, the McKee Cancer Center at McKee Medical Center is a 12,700-square-foot comprehensive cancer diagnosis and treatment facility boasting state-of-the-art medical and radiation oncology services.

Based on a holistic healing philosophy, the McKee Cancer Center was designed to promote inspiration and celebration of life while delivering the latest, most effective cancer care services.

The Cancer Committee oversees all aspects of cancer care at McKee. This team made up of specialists involved in treating cancer, meets regularly to discuss needs of our program, patients and the community we serve. The Cancer Committee evaluates the latest in cancer treatments and programs to best serve your needs. They also make recommendations to improve cancer care within our health care community.

Tumor Board Conferences are held bi-weekly to review all cancer cases that were diagnosed or treated at McKee. The board is an interdisciplinary team composed of surgeons, medical and radiation oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, primary care physicians, other specialties, oncology nurses, care coordinators, social workers, pharmacists and a program administrator. All are charged with discussing each case and making a recommendation together for the best treatment of each cancer patient.

The Cancer Registry bridges the information gap by capturing the whole picture of the disease from diagnosis to end of life as each patient is followed for the rest of his or her life. The Registry contains complete information including all treatment received, both within and outside of the hospital setting. It provides integrated data to form a complete cancer record of care provided. The Registry also reminds physicians and patients of the need for continued follow-up examinations.

The Cancer Registry helps our Cancer Committee evaluate and improve the care and services we provide. All information is confidential. Statistics are sent to the Colorado Central Cancer Registry, which in turn offers information to the National Institute of Health.

From detection and diagnosis to such treatment services as outpatient chemotherapy and radiation oncology, the McKee Cancer Center is a supportive, comfortable and caring environment for patients and their families.
