Low-Dose CT
McKee Medical Center's new advanced diagnostic medical imaging system provides state-of-the-art diagnositic capabilities and reduces radiation exposure to patients.
The LightSpeed® VCT XTe from GE Healthcare delivers enhanced-speed, high-quality images and up to 40 percent less radiation to patients.
CT, or computed tomography, combines X-rays and computers to produce detailed, cross sectional images of internal structures of the body. It is used when people are ill or injured, or when a physician suspects a medical problem not easily detectable with by a normal physical exam.
The system uses ASiR, or Adaptive Statistical Iterative Reconstruction, which makes it possible to dramatically reduce radiation exposure to patients without hurting image quality.
The technology is especially beneficial for:
- Children
- Adults who are more susceptible to
harm from excessive radiation - Neurology patients
- Cardiac patients
