Robotic Gynecologic Surgery

McKee Medical Center is using robotic surgery to offer patients the opportunity for more minimally invasive gynecologic surgery.

Robotic surgery allows surgeons to make dime-sized incisions which means less trauma to the body, less pain for patients and faster recovery times.

Some of the robotic gynecological surgeries performed at McKee Medical Center include benign pelvic surgery such as:

  • Hysterectomy: The removal of the uterus is the second most common surgery in the U.S. Robotic surgery allows your surgeon a better view, which is especially critical when working around delicate and confined structures like the bladder. Surgeons also can perform a radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer.
  • Myomectomy: Surgical removal of uterine fibroids. Robotic surgery's precision can be helpful in the reconstruction of the uterine wall, regardless of the size or location of fibroids.
  • Tubal re-anastamosis: Reversal of the sterilization procedure, tubal ligation.

The robot is also used for advanced female pelvic surgeries for:

  • Cervical cancer
  • Ovarian cancer
  • Endometrial cancer
  • Lymphadenectomy

Schedule an appointment with a surgeon to find out if you are a candidate for robotic surgery.
