Robotic Urologic Surgery
With the use of robotic surgery for urological conditions, surgical patients at McKee face a faster return to their normal activities as well as other benefits.
Robotic surgery allows surgeons to make dime-sized incisions which means less trauma to the body and less pain for patients.
Some of the urological surgical procedures that Banner Health uses robotic surgery for include:
- Prostate cancer
- Prostatectomy (removal of the prostate gland): Robotic-assisted surgery offers surgeons a way to effectively remove cancer while allowing for the faster return of urinary continence and sexual function.
- Urology
- Cystectomy: Removal of all or part of the bladder and possibly the removal of nearby lymph nodes and organs that may contain cancer
- Partial nephrectomy (removal of a small renal tumor): Robotic surgery allows for the removal while preserving the remainder of the kidney.
- Pyeloplasty: Removes part of blocked ureter and reconnects the ureter and kidney.
Schedule an appointment with a surgeon to find out if you are a candidate for robotic surgery.
