For almost 30 years North Colorado Medical Center has offered regional emergency medical flight service.
North Colorado Med Evac is the air transport program at North Colorado Medical Center and the most experienced service in the region.
Med Evac operates two helicopters available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to provide fast transport and quick care to trauma victims, individuals experiencing severe medical emergencies and high-risk obstetrical patients who need immediate, specialized care.
The accredited critical care air transport service is based at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley with a second aircraft at the Erie Municipal Airpark.
Med Evac flies more than 1,500 missions a year, servicing a 300-mile radius of Greeley, including northern Colorado, southern Wyoming and western Nebraska. The staff includes 10 flight paramedics, 18 flight nurses and eight pilots serving the region. Flight teams consist of a pilot, an RN and an EMT-Paramedic.
Pregnant patients at risk for complications to either the mother or fetus can be safely transported by helicopter to hospitals that specialize in maternal fetal medicine. The high-risk obstetrics team consists of eight specially trained Labor and Delivery nurses and a medical director. A high-risk obstetrics flight crew includes the pilot, labor and delivery nurse and a critical care flight nurse.
