  • Colonoscopy
A colonoscopy is an examination of the lining of the colon with a lighted, flexible tube.  It is a beneficial screening tool for colo-rectal cancer.  If necessary, during the colonoscopy, the doctor will do biopsies to test any abnormalities.
  • Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography
ERCP is a specialized technique used to study the biliary ducts of the gallbladder, pancreas and liver.
  • Endoscopic Ultrasonography
EUS allows your doctor to examine your stomach lining as well as the walls of your upper and lower gastrointestinal tract. EUS is also used to study internal organs that are next to the gastrointestinal tract, such as the gallbladder and pancreas.
  • Esophageal Dilation
Esophageal dilation is a procedure that allows your doctor to dilate, or stretch, a narrowed area of your esophagus. The most common cause of narrowing of the esophagus is scarring from reflux.
  • Hydrogen Breath Test
This test is to evaluate for possible abnormally high levels of bacteria in the small intestine.
  • Sphincter of Oddi Manometry
This test measures the pressures in the sphincter to check for dysfunction. This condition is when the opening of the pancreatic duct (the sphincter of Oddi) does not function properly. Patients with this condition have recurrent attacks of abdominal pain and slight elevations of pancreatic enzymes.
  • Upper Endoscopy
EGD (upper endoscopy) allows your doctor  to examine the lining of the upper part of your gastrointestinal tract, which includes the esophagus, stomach and duodenum (first portion of the small intestine). Your doctor will use a small flexible tube called an endoscope, which has its own lens and light source, and will view the images on a video monitor.
