Intensive Care at the CardioVascular Institute of North Colorado

heart professionals

The intensive care specialists at the CardioVascular Institute focus on providing the most advanced and compassionate care during difficult times.

The Cardiovascular Care Unit (CVCU) at the CardioVascular Institute is furnished with state-of-the-art equipment .

Each room is acuity adaptable, meaning no matter the patients' condition - from chest pains to recovery from open heart surgery - specialized equipment and highly trained staff are available to ensure the best possible outcomes. Critical patients never need to leave their rooms or be transferred, allowing consistent care and a comfortable healing environment.

CVCU staff works together to attend to the special needs of patients and to keep family members informed. A specially trained team of cardiac nurse specialists, physical therapists, cardiac rehabilitation specialists and respiratory care practitioners work together to care for each patient.

Because of its emphasis on acuity adaptability and care of critical patients, CVCU at the CardioVascular Institute was recently recognized with a prestigious Beacon Award for Excellence by the American Association of Critical Care Nurses.

Registered nurses are the primary caregiver, but they work closely with the physicians. The nurses administer medications, perform physical assessments and coordinate any other care needed. The time of doctor visits is determined by each individual physician.
